Attention and anxiety

The quality of your life is determined by the focus of your attention. - Cheri Huber

Anxiety and I have had a love/hate relationship for quite some time now. It has been my constant companion in good and in bad. Only recently have I become aware of just how completely I have let my anxiety cover my life.

Anxiety if chosen instead of being in the present, will cause a person to suffer instead of being happy. It will cut one off from the heartfelt feelings of love, affection, gratitude, peace and faith. It instead leads one to control, repremand, hate, anger, depression and sadness.

Today I CHOOSE (yes we all have a choice and have subconciously been choosing) happiness over suffering, being present over listening and reacting to my anxiety. I will practise this and keep this goal in focus for as long as I live. I know I will fail constantly (I have faith in that :D), but I will recommit, and practise to move toward my goal, over and over and over again, this will be the challenge to embrace.

Its like this saying "We all have a light and dark side inside us, its the side we choose to act upon that ultimately makes us whom we are" (Sirius Black- Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix), the same was also said by Deepak Chopra- "the part of us that we nurture will grow, if we nurture hate and anxiety that will grow, if we nurture peace, love and happiness that will grow instead".

Are you aware of the choices you are making in your life?
