Love, peace, joy with what you've got.

Love as much as you can from where you are with what you’ve got.  That’s the best you can ever do. It does no good to search frantically for peace, to seek anxiously after love, joy or freedom.  If you want joy, be joyful. If you want peace, be peaceful.

Letting go and acceptance

Letting go goes hand in hand with acceptance. One does not occur without the other.  Letting go is opening the hand.  Acceptance is what the open hand receives.

desire to deal with a problem-not connected to feeling upset!

The desire to deal with a problem does not have to be connected to feeling upset about it. That is an important awareness in spiritual practice. - Cheri Huber

How do we end suffering?

How do we end suffering? By accepting everything, exactly as it is. Hearing that is like a knife in the heart. Inside we shriek, no! That is the shriek of the ego devoted to suffering. In fact, there is no choice other than accepting everything exactly as it is, because everything is exactly as it is. It is as simple as that. There is nowhere else to go. - Cheri Huber

It is possible simply to open oneself to whatever is here.

Whatever we are experiencing at any moment does not have to be resisted or improved or analyzed. It is possible simply to open oneself to whatever is here. - Cheri Huber

mind of meditation or.....?

Am I in the mind of meditation or am I in egocentric karmic conditioning? That is what we're learning all the time. - Cheri Huber

The lifelong process

This is a lifelong process. If you decide to learn to care for yourself, to live your life in compassion, you will be required to practice that until you die. An internal relationship must be worked on and maintained just like an external relationship. And that’s good news! When you fall in love with someone, you don’t say, “Oh, no, how long am I going to have to love this person?” When we’re in love, we love to love that person, and we hope it will last forever. - Cheri Huber

draw a bigger circle of acceptance

If you find something unacceptable, draw a bigger circle of acceptance. Just keep drawing a bigger circle until nothing is excluded. - Cheri Huber

Right here with ourselves

When we drop the idea that we’re supposed to be having a certain kind of experience and open ourselves to the experience we are having, then we avoid nothing, and we fear nothing, because we are right here with ourselves. - Cheri Huber

be kind

Being kind to yourself lets you be kind to others – and that just might be the finest gift you can give the world. - Cheri Huber

Practice is like walking in a heavy mist

This practice is like walking in a heavy mist. It penetrates slowly, permeating every, every, everything, until it reaches the bone and then inside the marrow of the bone. All along the way, we have had glorious moments of, "Yes, I get it! I see--yes, yes!" And then we walk on, into the mist ahead.

You cannot do it wrong

You cannot do it wrong. You cannot go astray unless conditioned mind talks you into quitting. And even that is not really a problem. You’ll remember sometime and that will be the perfect time to start again. - Cheri Huber

big traps

One of the big traps in spiritual practice is thinking that we have finished with some aspect of our conditioning, only to have it reappear much later. If we take that personally, then we are heading right down the trail of suffering. But if we say, “Ah, that again—that's interesting,” our relationship with it is completely different. - Cheri Huber

The path of conscious awareness is no bed of roses

The path of conscious awareness is no bed of roses, however. It is difficult for everybody; that is something we have to face. We may not always be willing to receive the kindness that is there; we cannot always experience what happens in our practice as compassion. When we are in the middle of learning a hard lesson about our own selfishness or arrogance, it does not feel like compassion. Having an attachment ripped from deep in our being does not feel kind. Yet when it is gone, when the wound is healing, we can see that the process was one of pure compassion. - Cheri Huber

Amen! to that. :)

Egocentric conditioning

Egocentric conditioning thrives on deprivation. Then, when we get far enough over into deprivation, the pendulum swings to indulgence, which, of course, puts ego in charge once again. What we aim for on this path is the middle way that is most compassionate to all the parts of ourselves who are involved: the part who always wants more, the part who is critical of that, the part who makes deals about it, the part who gets frustrated and despairing. This is what the Buddha taught—the middle way that allows us to embrace the extremes of deprivation and indulgence, without clinging to either of them. - Cheri Huber

breathing

Most of us are so unaccustomed to breathing naturally that the body can hardly accept the breath deeper than a couple of inches below the collarbone. When we allow the body to relax, it will naturally accommodate a fuller breath. We do not make the body breathe. It knows how to breathe, breathing is what it does. We simply allow the breathing to happen. - Cheri Huber

A good reason for me to focus on losing some weight. That way I can breathe more naturally and easily, than constantly having the restriction of my pants tightening at the waistline :D

our own expression of compassionate awareness

Each of us has an expression of conscious, compassionate awareness that is exclusively in relationship with us. We have a kind, clear guiding wisdom that knows us completely understands us perfectly, supports us unconditionally, and will show us the path that leads to the happiness we’ve always known was possible for us. - Cheri Huber

Grace

It seems to me that grace is nothing more than letting go completely.

put attention on love

Putting attention on the love you have for someone, including yourself, makes it easier to accept them as they are.
