"The world can trick you into thinking that there's only one road to your destination. In truth, there are infinite ways to get where you wish to go." - Ralph Marston
My personal thought on this is, that its not the world that is tricking me, but I am tricking myself into believing this lie. My perception tells me that there is only one way, this perception gets easily influenced by my socialized conditioning and ego. When I sit in second attention, in the sangha of humility, lowliness, compassion and God, I see the stage plays being put up for my sub-personalities, I observe the criticism and judgement my vulnerable sides are being exposed to.
When I sit with my vulnerable sub-personality (as if it were a child), the one that is believing the lie and suffering, pulling it into my stronghold of compassion; it feels comforted, peaceful, and loved. This is the only way it can stop believing all that is thrown at it, and simply exists with everything just the way it is.
On that note, this saying is apt:
"Those who, relying upon themselves only, not looking for assistance to anyone besides themselves, it is they who will reach the top-most height." -- Buddha
