I recently started reading a book by Cheri Huber called "Making a change, for good". I usually wait until the end of a book to think about whether I like it or not, well with this book, I am not even half way through, and i feel quite strongly about her simple messages on self-reflection and on change.
She emphasizes on one fact how we suffer when we are unaccepting of things the way they are. She recommends living in the present and letting go of the illusions we hold of the past and future. She talks a lot about the consious mind versus the conditioned mind.
The part I enjoyed the most was about how each of us have little sub-personalities, these are our precious little children who are anxious, sad, upset, hurt, suffering etc.. everytime one of these children wants our attention we should sit with them, offer them comfort, love and listen to them carefully with compassion and consiousness.
She also says be aware of the "content" and "process" of emotions in your life. For example: If we are anxious because our spouse maybe cheating on us, the spouse is the content, which is not important to our life, it is the feeling of anxiety that is the process, the one we need to focus on, and sit with.
I highly recommend reading this book. Its been both fun and extremely insightful for me.
