A Gift Unadored
It so happened, in a certain town lived a little girl. She lived with her mommy and daddy and little baby brother. This little girl was sad a lot, even though she was a spoilt little child, her mommy and daddy were always fighting. Besides, she had become so tired and bored of the same old toys she had had for the longest time. She longed for a new toy, one that would bring her joy and restore her happiness.
One day, looking upon this sad little spoilt child, God decided to send her a gift. He asked the little girl’s guardian angel to bring her a special little toy, which God himself had created with his own loving hands. The angel did as told, and on the day she had almost given up on hope, the precious gift, the special toy made by God himself was delivered unto her.
The little girl was ecstatic, she was so thankful to God for this special delivery, and began to unpack and examine her new friend. Now, this special toy made by God, was indeed very special, it had unique features and performed amazing deeds. Although, most importantly it had a heart of gold, and immediately upon setting eyes upon the girl, he fell in love with her. He danced and jiggled and laughed and tickled the best he could, and in time, the little girl fell in love with him. As time passed, the two became inseparable, laughing and giggling, being cheerful and bold. The more the little toy danced and jiggled the more the little girl laughed, she loved being with him, loved the way he made her feel about herself.
Although, all was fun and good, she was starting to get a little concerned. Now, one would think, she would be concerned about how she could in turn love and entertain her loving new friend, but no this little girl was spoilt and selfish. She had started to look around at the other little children in the certain town, and at their little toys. She was envious of the tricks they could perform, and the sophistication they exuded. In comparison, she thought, her little toy was inadequate and outdated.
She grew more and more distant, embarrassed easily by his clumsy tumblings and constant jiggling. She would scold him for being the way he was and was angry because he couldn’t change to be like the other fashionable toys. The little toy grew sadder and sadder, he loved the little girl with all his golden heart, yet she only scorned him, and forced him to be something God had not made him to be. In time, the spoilt little girl, ignored him completely, he was left to fend for himself, trying to be happy doing his sad little somersaults. Then, he became depressed; he didn’t smile, jiggle, laugh or twinkle. He simple sat and stared at the wall.
Now, this spoilt little girl had met another little girl in the playground of this certain little town. They had been drawn to each other, as the other little girl was sad and lonely and admired the strength in the spoilt little girl. When the sad little girl was sick, the spoilt little girl took care of her, and helped her feel better. Very often the two girls would play with the special little toy made by God himself. The sad little girl enjoyed her time playing with her new found friends, and while she did so was able to forget her own sadness. She especially enjoyed playing together with the special little toy. He made her laugh so hard when he jiggled and giggled and did his little tricks.
While the spoilt little girl was busy trying to be like the other kids and forced both, the sad little girl and the special little to fit in as well, what nobody realized was this. God, whom had been watching, was saddened by the fate of his special gift to the little girl. He decided to arrange it so that the spoilt girl would meet the sad girl in the playground that day. For, because He was God, he was sending the sad girl as a gift. Not for the spoilt little girl, but as a gift for his beloved little toy, whose spirit was now broken.
The special little toy was happy to be with the sad little girl, he helped her feel not so sad when he did his own special tricks. The sad little girl laughed and giggled at every one of his tricks, and the two learnt to love and cherish each others friendship more and more each day.
Now, the spoilt little girl felt betrayed. She couldn’t understand why the toy that belonged to her was spending so much time being jiggly and giggly with the sad little girl. “After all what fun can a sad little girl be”, thought the spoilt brat. She tried to break them up, she got angry and yelled at the sad girl, flinging the special toy at the wall. After many a angry outbreaks, disrespectful accusations from the spoilt little girl; one day, the special little toy found that he loved the spoilt girl no more. Her flaring anger and constant contempt of him had turned his golden heart to coal. He was only comforted by the sad little girl, whom loved him for exactly who he was, not more, not less.
One day, the special little toy left the spoilt little girl. The sad little girl took him into her home. She offered him spiritual and emotional mending and more importantly love and care, which he hadn’t received in a long time from anyone. The spoilt little girl, at first enraged, soon calmed and started to see the light. What she didn’t realize was this, she was the only one to blame, she had not appreciated God’s special gift to her, and now, alas it was too late. She looked into her heart and realized that she had become a cold-hearted, mean-spirited, lonely, bitter, hate-filled child, but also sadly she had lost forever, the one thing that she had loved the most in her life.
It was then for the first time she looked up and prayed clearly. “God, I am sorry I have disrespected and mangled your most loved and precious gifts to me, please forgive me. I pray for the special little toy, may he heal and may he be surrounded by your arms and your love always. I also pray and thank you for the sad little girl. They both deserve nothing better than your love, care and Godly affection”. She then ended her prayer by saying “God, I know I do not deserve it, but please open up my heart and take away the selfish hate, bitterness and meanness, and replace these with love, respect, patience and forgiveness for all those precious gifts you bring into my life. May I from now on be your humble vessel one that you put into and take out at your will”.
END of story.
Moral: Recognize and cherish all of God’s gifts for exactly what and who they are.
